Shure Sound Isolating Earphones
Before I went to buy the Shure sound isolating earphones today, I owned 2 earphones, one typical earphone (manufacturer: Sennheiser) given for free when I purchase my iriver H320, and the other (manufacturer: Victor, Be!) I purchased much earlier is a armless headphone. Although I like both of them, but when I am travelling on the bus or inside MRT, the noise from the crowd at the surrounding means I can’t enjoy my music unless I turn on my music really loud. But then, that will hurt my ears.
So after days of research on the Net, people seems to recommend 2 brands of sound isolating earphones in the market: Shure and Etymotic. With my budget of around NT$4000, I went to this shop called 音悅音響 near CKS Memorial Hall in Taipei. As I often listen to Pop, Jazz, NewAge, the lady in the shop recommended Shure as she said Etymotic is more suitable for classical music. After deciding on the brand, this left me to decide on which model to buy: E2C or E3C. With a NT$2000 difference in price between the two model, I decided to increase my budget and purchased E3C. I’m sure E3C worth that much money and I would most likely regrate if I bought E2C
E3c Technical Specifications: Speaker Type: Wideband MicroDriver Sensitivity (at 1kHz): 115dB SPL/mW Impedance (at 1kHz): 26 Ohm Cable Length: 1.57m (62 inches) Net Weight: 28g (0.9 oz) Input Connector: 3.5 mm (1/8″) gold-plated stereo plug

[…] The headphone/earphone shop (音悅音響) where I bought my Shure E3C and brother’s Westone UM1 is also selling it, but the price is little (really, very little) cheaper if I deal with the manufacturer myself. And anyway, it will be interesting to deal with the maker of the product personally than through a dealer/third-party. Therefore, I emailed Jan Meier, the owner of Meier Audio, on the 22nd to query on the pricing, shipping, delivery method, etc. […]
